Reliable insulation and operation
The dependable electrical insulation resulting from their high electric strength and cracking resistance ensures reliable electrical operation. Our films are mainly used in the manufacture of housing components, facings and scales on devices. Consequently, their surface quality, printability, scratch resistance and dimensional stability must be excellent.
We also have products such as Bayfol AS-A 2-4 (PDF) that are specifically designed for applications that require the film surface to have good anti-static rather than insulating properties.
The following selected case studies demonstrate typical electrical/electronic applications for our films:
Flame retardant polycarbonate films are a must in many applications. Some of these include door plates, name badges, corporate signage, traffic signs, logos, labels and large displays for events such as trade fairs. Bayer MaterialScience offers three particularly flame-retardant polycarbonate films for just such needs. Download PDF »
Manufacturers of household appliances and fashionable accessories for personal grooming are increasingly turning to film insert molding (FIM) technology to give their products high-quality decorative surface finishes. One example is the HQ 7140 electric razor from Philips. Download PDF »
In addition to its primary function of calling for assistance, a patient control station allows hospital patients or residents of nursing homes to easily control their lighting, TV, radio, blinds and other electronic devices from one convenient location. Even the billing system has been integrated into some devices. Download PDF »
