Dureflex® brand polyurethane and specialty elastomer films contribute to the marketability of healthcare industry products by providing properties such as breathability, stretch-recovery, and skin-friendliness. When requested, Dureflex® film can be formulated using raw materials that meet ISO and FDA requirements or USP Class VI standards.

Performance Summary

Dureflex® polyurethane and specialty elastomer film provides a unique blend of performance properties that are attractive for a broad range of medical and healthcare applications.

Inflatable Cuffs & Casts and Medical Mattresses & Cushions

The tensile and elongation properties of Dureflex® film make it an effective choice for inflatable medical devices and appliances, such as blood pressure cuffs and casts. Patient comfort-enhancing applications that utilize the skin-friendly barrier and durability properties of Dureflex® film include institutional mattresses, wheelchair cushions, and gel-filled surgical positioning devices.

Medical Probe Covers, Transdermals, and Wound Management

Medical probe covers made of Dureflex® film serve as tissue-friendly barriers, offering protection against the contamination of equipment and patients. Certain Dureflex® films can be utilized as a breathable barrier in wound-management products, contributing to patient comfort and the durability of a dressing.

Prostheses

Prostheses (outside of the body only) appear and feel more natural, and provide excellent resistance to punctures and leaks, when fabricated with Dureflex® film.

Surgical Drapes

Fabricated as drapes and covers, Dureflex® polyurethane and specialty elastomer film provides excellent resistance to punctures and offers protection against contamination. The positive haptic properties of select Dureflex® film grades are more comfortable than other films. Polyurethane film also minimizes noise and exhibits superior draping characteristics compared to less expensive, higher durometer materials.
