Security Glazing
Dureflex® brand aliphatic TPU sheet is used as critical interlayers to build ballistic resistant security glazings. Dureflex® sheet layers enhance the final laminations used in vehicles, buildings, and body armor, making them particularly resistant to bullets and bomb blasts.
Performance Summary
Dureflex® optical aliphatic polyether-based polyurethane sheet is the adhesive interlayer of choice for bonding glass, polycarbonate, and / or acrylic ballistic-resistant, symmetric and asymmetric, laminated transparencies used for protecting vehicle and building occupants. The properties of Dureflex® aliphatic sheet products offer a range of heat options for reducing the probability of lamination failures during cooling.
Dureflex® aliphatic sheet features a surface texture that makes assembly of simple or complex lay-ups more efficient to debulk and mitigates the risk of air entrapment. Bullet-resistant transparencies constructed with Dureflex® aliphatic sheet offer excellent UV, ballistic, impact, blast, and hurricane resistance, with high optical clarity after processing.
Unlike poly vinyl butyral (PVB), Dureflex® aliphatic sheet will not chemically attack polycarbonate or acrylic interlayers. The sheet is manufactured in a Class 100,000 hardwall clean room, and is maintained under a comprehensive quality assurance process that features a state-of-the-art contamination detection system.
