Solar Module Encapsulant
Dureflex brand aliphatic film may be used as an encapsulant to protect and preserve solar modules and components. The Dureflex encapsulant film offers a unique combination of melt flow, adhesion to glass and fluoropolymers, light transmittance, and weatherability characteristics.
Performance Summary
Dureflex aliphatic polyurethane film can be used as an encapsulant material to bond and protect the intricate and delicate components of solar modules. The film melts and flows evenly, surrounding the energy generating internal components, creating a protective environment.
As an encapsulant, the polyurethane film exhibits acceptable levels of color shift and haze; issues that can reduce energy output efficiency. As an alternative to conventional solar encapsulants, Dureflex film does not require cross linking, nor does it outgas acetic acid or peroxide during lamination, gases which can degrade the performance of the solar module and damage sensitive module lamination equipment. As a thermoplastic, it affords module manufacturers an opportunity to repair faulty modules by reheating, pulling back the encapsulant layer, repairing or replacing components, and relaminating the construction. Dureflex solar encapsulant film is available in standard configurations.
